Why I am a Physical Therapist, and Why I Teach Physical Therapy

When I was a child I needed to go to PT for UV light treatments. While I was there, I observed physical therapists working with people and helping them learn how to walk, move, and use their limbs again. No other profession has the "hands on" opportunity to work with people and help them to be their best in terms of movement and function.

I initially came to teach because there were not enough good physical therapists to meet the need. I saw long waiting lists for patients to get the care they needed now. I continue to teach because of the wonderful opportunity to work with such talented and outstanding people as our students. To get to share ideas and a profession I think is the best in the world, and then to know these students will go out and make a difference in each life they touch, this is why I teach.
