Kristi Hallisy, PT, MS, OCS
Why I am a Physical Therapist, and Why I Teach Physical TherapyPhysical therapists hold a unique position in the health care system. In general, we have the skills to treat a variety of conditions. As a profession, we are focused on the diagnosis and management of dysfunctional human movement across the lifespan. Treating movement dysfunction means physical therapists must empower their patients to care for themselves in several domains: physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual. I strongly feel that physical therapy has the potential, and the responsibility, to affect the quality of life of all members of our society. I teach, so that my students will hopefully learn how rewarding their future professional lives will be. Education

Clinical InterestsHaving been a collegiate athlete (and still a weekend warrior), I have developed a clinical (and personal) interest in the musculoskeletal system. My faculty position at the UW-PT program affords me the opportunity to use my skills as an ABPTS clinical specialist in Orthopaedics to treat patients/clients with a variety of musculoskeletal ailments. Providing patients with information on prevention, wellness and life-time health promotion concepts is a primary focus of my clinical practice. Links related to my interests:

Personal InterestsEnjoying nature is a primary non-PT motivation for me… whether it is walking my dog, camping, fishing, hiking or biking – any outdoor activity is where you will find me when I am not “doing PT.” Also, don’t stand between me and a TV if the Green Bay Packers are playing!
