Why I am a Physical Therapist Assistant, and Why I Teach Physical Therapy

I initially earned my BS in Psychology with a minor in zoology. I loved how the mind and body worked together as well as their effect on each other. The field of PT encompasses that concept so it was the perfect profession for me. I also enjoy being the “go to” person and as a PTA I’m on the frontline of patient care, which I find to be the best part. Assisting people through some traumatic times has definitely helped to put my own life in perspective.

My experience and the staff in the PTA program I attended were exceptional. I knew right then I wanted to help other students have that same experience and share my own enthusiasm for the profession. I have taught in both a PTA program and now here at the UW-Madison and I haven’t been disappointed. The students are great and it is a constant learning experience for me too.

Clinical Interests

I currently work full time with the frail, older adult population in an outpatient setting. My biggest interest is in Health and Wellness promotion in clients as well as the general public.

Personal Interests

I enjoy planning trips and traveling, working in my yard, reading and pretty much anything that involves being outdoors.
