Program Overview
Thank you for your interest in the UW-Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. The PT Program is 3 years in length and emphasizes classroom and clinical learning experiences. Full-time clinical practicums are interspersed between academic terms, and two full-time nine-week and one twelve-week clinical internships follow the didactic portion of the Program. The PT curriculum is designed to produce a generalist clinician who is able to function in a caring, professional manner, and who has the foundation to assume the roles of physical therapy teacher, researcher, administrator and consultant. The UW-Madison Physical Therapy Program is one of the oldest programs in the country and has been accredited since 1929. It is an integral part of the School of Medicine and Public Health, located in the heart of the UW-Madison campus. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and specific prerequisite courses to be eligible to apply to the Program. We invite you to explore our web site, and to contact us if we can provide you with further information. Lisa Steinkamp, PT, MS, MBA
