Life in Madison
The
University of Wisconsin is situated near the center of Madison, which is the state capitol
and has a population of over 200,000. The 900-acre UW campus is bordered
by Lake Mendota, the largest of Madison's four lakes. Lake shoreline,
the 1200-acre UW Arboretum,
in addition to numerous parks, trails, and golf courses, provide countless
opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Madison's vibrant city life offers the sorts of cultural activities that
would be expected from a city twice its size. Restaurants, shops, and
galleries complement live music and theater productions all around the
city.
