Phi Theta - Student Service Organization
Phi Theta is the physical therapy student service organization at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison. All students are encouraged to join and
participate. Phi Theta performs service, social and fundraising activities
which promote physical therapy, wellness, and disease prevention to the
campus and surrounding community.
Examples of Activities
- Community Service outings such as working at a wheelchair
recycling center, teaching exercise classes at a local nursing home,
educating grade school and middle school students about health, fitness,
and physical therapy , or adopting a family during the holidays

- Fundraising, in the form of events such as massage
days and Bucky Book sales, in order to:
- send students to a variety of professional conferences, such
as the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association's (WPTA)
Spring and Fall Conferences, National Student Conclave, National
Student Legislative Day, and APTA's Combined Sections Meeting and
National Conference
- help augment membership dues to the American
Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
- donate to charitable organizations such as the American Cancer
Society and Special Olympics
- compete in the Pittsburgh-Marquette Challenge, a nationwide fundraising
campaign to raise money for physical therapy research
- Faculty and Alumni Forums - where students have a
chance to ask faculty and alumni questions about topics outside the
realm of regular PT classes
- Social Events such as a holiday party, graduation
party, outings to UW sporting events
- Big Brother/Big Sister Program where second year
students mentor first year students
