Rehabilitation Residency

Note: We will accept only those application materials sent electronically through ERAS.

ERAS is the Electronic Residency Application Service from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). This service transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean's Letters, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from medical schools to residency programs via the Internet. This system has been introduced to enhance the transition to residency by improving efficiency at medical schools and programs and to substantially reduce the amount of time you, as a medical student, would be required to devote to the residency application process.  Visit ERAS Web for more information.

Applicants must be graduates of medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Applicants should separately match for and complete an internship year in general internal medicine, or a transitional internship year, at a program accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to provide graduate medical education.

UW Rehabilitation Medicine provides three residency positions for each training year, starting with postgraduate year 2 (PGY-2).

Graduates of Foreign Medical Schools

Exceptionally qualified graduates of foreign medical schools are eligible for appointment, provided they have been certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). For certification and examination information contact ECFMG, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2685, USA, or the nearest United States embassy or consulate.

Fellowship Applicants

Applicants for fellowships through UW Rehabilitation Medicine should refer to our fellowship page for application instructions.

Licensing

A valid Wisconsin medical license is required for all house officers who have completed one year of approved postgraduate training in the United States or Canada, including residents after PGY1 and fellows.  Residents also register for federal DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) prescriber certificates.  License and DEA permit fees are reimbursed by UW Graduate Medical Education.  For information please visit the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing.
