Message from the Chairman

Chairman James W. Leonard

James W. Leonard, D.O., P.T.

Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine
Chair, Division of Rehabilitation Medicine
Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health

Thank you for your interest in our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our faculty has a strong commitment to the residency. We are dedicated to continually improving and updating our academic and clinical programs.

As our Rehabilitation Division has grown, we have expanded the depth and scope of our faculty and our clinical offerings. Our residency program takes full advantage of those resources. Besides clinical training and regular didactics, residents collaborate with faculty to choose and carry out research projects. Each resident is expected to complete and present (or publish) one research project during training.

While we have set high standards for our residents, our faculty provides an environment that will foster personal and professional growth during the training program. We provide depth, stability and experience to help our residents expand their horizons as they prepare for a life-long learning experience in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

We strive to educate our residents while allowing them to participate in the vibrancy of Madison and the University of Wisconsin and all that they have to offer. We wish to train our future colleagues and successors to meet the highest standards of our field, and we take great pride in watching our graduates progress in their careers.

Thank you again for your interest, and we look forward to talking with you about our program.

Sincerely,

James Leonard, D.O.
