Clinical SpecialtiesDr. Zdeblick is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is the director of the University of Wisconsin Spine Center. His practice focuses on the treatment of spinal disorders. His clinical interests include cervical deformity, spinal trauma, anterior thoracolumbar spinal instrumentation, spinal tumor surgery, interbody fusion cages, bone graft substitutes (BMP), and laparoscopic spinal surgery. Dr. Zdeblick also is the designer and innovator of the Z-plate anterior thoracolumbar spinal fixation system and the Novus interbody lordotic fusion cage. Research InterestsDr. Zdeblick established the University of Wisconsin Spinal Biomechanics Research Laboratory in 1989. Funded through the Veterans' Administration Hospital and private industry sources, the laboratory houses an 858 MTS Bionix materials testing machine that has been adapted for spinal research. Specific research interests include spinal biomechanics, fusion healing, interbody fusion cages, spinal instrumentation, and bone graft substitutes.
